Job Description

Irvington UFSD is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and detail-oriented leader to serve as its next Assistant Superintendent for Business & Operations. This cabinet-level position plays a critical role in advancing the District’s mission through sound financial leadership, operational excellence, and long-range planning.

The successful candidate will be an experienced school business professional who brings both technical expertise and strong interpersonal leadership to support students, staff, and the broader school community.

 


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of all business and operational functions, including:

    • Budget development and administration

    • Financial planning, accounting, and auditing

    • Facilities, capital projects, and operations

    • Transportation, food service, and risk management

  • Advise the Superintendent and Board of Education on fiscal matters, long-term planning, and resource allocation

  • Lead the development of the annual budget in alignment with District priorities

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable New York State laws, regulations, and reporting requirements

  • Oversee purchasing, contracts, and vendor relationships

  • Supervise and evaluate business office and operational staff

  • Support collective bargaining processes and financial analysis related to labor agreements

  • Present financial reports and recommendations to the Board of Education and community stakeholders

Job Qualifications
  • Valid New York State School District Building Leader (SDBL) certification 

  • Demonstrated experience in school district financial leadership (e.g., Assistant Superintendent, School Business Official, or equivalent)

  • Deep knowledge of:

    • NYS school finance, budgeting, and reporting

    • Civil Service requirements and personnel implications

    • Capital planning and facilities management

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
