Job Description

Probationary Position: Teaching Assistant – Grades K-3

Responsibilities Include:

• Works with individual or groups of students independently
• Provides teachers with information about students which will assist in the development of appropriate learning and behavioral experiences
• Assists students in the use of available instructional resources
• Assists in the development of student instructional materials
• Assists with the development of related instructional work as required, including direct student work or copying student materials for classroom use, but is not limited to the above examples
• Assists students with specific health-related needs as required
• Other duties as assigned

Other Qualifications:

Candidate must:

• Maintains current NYS Teaching Assistant or Teacher certification
• Exhibits ability to remain flexible in difficult situations
• Evidences ability to follow directions
• Evidences ability to maintain classroom routines
• Establishes good relationships with children and others in the classroom and school building
• Maintains student discipline
• Exhibits resourcefulness in conducting classroom assignments
