School Psychologist (K-3) - Probationary 2026/27 School Year
The school psychologist will combine his/her academic and experiential background to provide psycho-educational services to children. Certified School psychologists perform federal and state mandated services including, but not limited to, psychological evaluations, counseling services and Committee on Special Education and the Committee on Preschool Special Education membership.
Responsibilities:

Documents and provides yearly spreadsheets to PPS, building administration and guidance an overview of all students and their mandated services

Conducts evaluations which include classroom observations in order to assess a child’s cognitive abilities, learning style, and social-emotional strengths and weaknesses

Prepares written reports summarizing, analyzing and synthesizing data obtained from evaluations

Utilizes the results of the evaluations to assist in the classification and educational planning for students

Presents evaluation results at CSE meetings or CPSE to CSE transition meetings

Participates in district psychologist meetings

Assists in assessing, planning and developing social emotional and other IEP goals and objectives based upon identified needs of individual students

Participates in new student entrance meetings

Acts as a liaison between any and all groups affecting the CSE students while fulfilling a child advocacy role

Consults with teachers and administrators regarding student needs and provides strategies to enhance the learning environment of the classroom

Assists parents in understanding the CSE/IEP process

Communicates with appropriate personnel regarding student transitioning to the next grade in order to assist with scheduling

Acts as the coordinator of IEP development

Provides crisis intervention and counseling services for students either in individual or group settings as it relates to the educational environment

Coordinates and participates in preparing Functional Behavioral Analysis (FBA) and Behavioral Intervention Plan (BIP)

Designs or implements special prevention programs which educate and assist all students

Participates on the Instructional Support Team

Provides services to parents and families related to the educational environment

Conducts parent workshops focusing on issues such as effective parenting skills, social skills, substance abuse, self-esteem and other developmental and educational issues

Provides in-service to teachers on issues related to learning, emotional/social development, management issues and child development

Provides substance abuse, sexual abuse, suicide prevention as well as counseling in other areas

Assists in meeting Special Education laws and State requirements

Acts as CSE Chairperson for all annual reviews, program reviews and caseloads
